Visits or zooms are held to understand the story to be told.
Then there is the crafting of the unique ceremony, including original poetry on occasion, the structuring of a well put together service. The telling of the story on the day with the right emphasis for the event. The addition of rituals and elements as required.

Saying goodbye should be done with dignity and love. I can really help with this as an experienced funeral celebrant.
How do you wish to feel at the end of the day after your service?
That’s a good place to start when you’re thinking about using the services of an independent celebrant.
So hopefully you will feel the service did your person justice, captured something special about them, your heart might ache but you will have revisited meaningful memories. Knowing that love and loss has been given space in equal measure, just as you wanted.
To get this feeling, I would recommend you make your service truly yours. Reflecting you and the person who has died.

I can also work with people prior to funeral if they wish to plan in advance. This is becoming a more usual thing and I am happy to help with this as needed. As a nurse I have lots of experience in this area.

What you can expect
A one to one consultation, usually face to face and can be virtual as well.
I will lead the ceremony on the day, supporting you as needed in that moment
A written summary of the things we have agreed
A copy of the order of service for you to keep
The sharing of the script in advance, so you can check and discuss any changes with me
I will collaborate with the funeral directors of your choice if your using one
Depending on the location of ceremony, I may discuss with you the need for me to travel the day before in order to avoid any hold ups. The cost of nearby accommodation would be covered by you, unless I can stay with a friend or family near to the venue (I’ll do my best to keep the costs down for you)

Advance funeral planning
This is a chance to plan ahead for your ceremony. I would write this on your behalf with all your choices included. You would gave it on the shelf for whenever you needed it.

Depending on the location of your ceremony, I may discuss with you the need for me to travel the day before in order to avoid any hold ups. The cost of nearby accommodation would be additional to the fees above and agreed in advance.
